Proposed Plan
The City of Effingham is moving forward with its plans to construct an 82,000 square-foot sports complex that will house a competitive pool, a recreation pool, a studio-size hockey rink, and a multi-sports area. The proposed sports facility will be located on 22.37 acres located on the northeast side of the City, northwest of Evergreen Hollow Park and southeast of the YMCA facility. Five of the acres of the proposed site will be purchased from the Helen Matthes Library, and the remainder of the acres will be purchased from a land trust. The facility will not only attract sports clubs, regional competitions, and regional visitors to the City, but it also will serve as a facility for residents of all ages.
