The City of Effingham Sewer Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the City's public sewers.

The department operates out of the Maintenance Garage which is located at the corner of Pembroke and Eiche Streets. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located behind the Maintenance Garage. The Sewer Department provides the following services.

• Repair and replacement of sewers, manholes, and lift stations.
• Inspections and cleaning of public sewer lines and lift stations.
• Location of sewer lines.
• Operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
