Apply for a fundraiser on City streets permit

Organizations who wish to hold fundraisers at certain intersections in Effingham must obtain a permit before holding their event.

We want you to have a successful event, and will help you through the permitting process.

Before you start

Before you start, you must reserve the dates, times and locations for your event to avoid having more than one group at an intersection.

Reserve your event:

What to do

After you have reserved the dates, times, and locations for your event, you will need to do the following steps:

  1. Contact the Office of the Mayor to pick up a packet or print the application packet below
    1. Confirm the dates, times, and locations with the Mayor's Office
    2. Review the checklist and fill in your timeline to complete tasks
    3. Have the packet initialed by the Mayor's Office
  2. Contact Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) - this step only applies to State Highways
    1. Take the packet to IDOT and get approval for State Highways
    2. Have the packet signed by an IDOT official
  3. Contact the Insurance and Safety Department at Effingham City Hall
    1. Present Certificate of Liability Insurance for review
    2. Confirm that you received Safety Guidelines
    3. Determine how many safety vests will be needed
    4. Arrange time and day to pick up safety vests
    5. Have the packet initialed by the Insurance and Safety Department
  4. Contact Effingham Police Department Records Division
    1. Email or drop off a completed Participant List
    2. Give the original packet with all initials and signatures to Records' personnel
      1. A copy of the packet will be given to you upon request
  5. Contact the Insurance and Safety Department at Effingham City Hall
    1. Sign out traffic vests at the time and date previously scheduled
    2. Return the safety vests after your event
