Building and construction permit fees

*If a foundation only permit is issued prior to final approval of building plans, the Permittee shall be allowed to progress with foundation only work at their own risk. In the event the City Building Official, Chief Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and/or Fire Enforcement Official determine that a condition or plan exists within the proposed building that violates any code, rules, and/or regulations applicable within the City, the Permittee agrees that they are responsible to correct any and all such violations at their own costs.

• First 90 day extension for permit application - no cost
• Second 90 day extension for permit application one-half cost of original cost of the permit
  sought to be acquired
• Permit duration extension- up to an additional 6 month period - $100

Residential and multi-family connection fees: $500

Commercial and industrial connection fees:

The fee for signs, billboards, satellite dish antennas and other display structures (except for portable signs) for which permits are required under the provisions of the International Building Code, as adopted and amended by the City of Effingham, Illinois, within Article II of Chapter Seven of the Municipal Code of Effingham, as amended from time to time, shall be $1.00 per one square foot of display area, and $0.50 per one square foot of display area for portable signs, provided, however that the minimum fee shall be $25.00.
