Fire and Police pension funds

Both the City of Effingham and its police officers and firefighters contribute to their respective pension funds. The funds are not managed or administered by the City of Effingham, but rather independent boards and an actuarial that is contracted by those boards, Lauterbach & Amen, LLP.

The City of Effingham Firefighters’ Pension Fund is managed by a board comprised of current firefighters, retired firefighters, and community members. This pension fund is a component of the Illinois Firefighters’ Pension Investment Fund. Likewise, The City of Effingham Police Officers’ Pension Fund is comprised of current members of the department, retirees, and community members. This fund is a component of the Illinois Police Officers’ Pension Investment Fund.

The State of Illinois requires that the City post reports related to the status of these funds.
