Offender registry

Offender registries were created to facilitate access to publicly available information about persons convicted of specific offenses, including certain sex offenses as well as violent offenses against youth. Effingham Police Department has not considered or assessed the specific risk of re-offense with regard to any individual prior to his or her inclusion on a registry and has made no determination that any individual included in a registry is currently dangerous.

  • Individuals included on registries are included solely by virtue of their conviction record and Illinois state law.
  • The primary purpose of providing this information is to make the information easily available and accessible, not to warn about any specific individuals.

Important reminders

  • The offender registry includes only those persons who have been required by law to register as sex offenders and/or violent offenders against youth (VOAY), and who are in compliance with the offender registration laws.
  • The information is provided as a public service and may not be current or accurate.
  • Persons should not rely solely on the offender registry as a safeguard against offenses in their communities.
  • The information contained in the registry does not imply that listed individuals will commit a specific type of crime in the future.
  • The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk.
  • Anyone who uses information contained in this registry to harass registrants or commit any crime may be subject to criminal prosecution.
  • The information on the registry refers only to sex offenses and/or violent offender against youth offenses, and may not reflect the entire criminal history of a particular individual.
