Sign permits

You need a sign permit if you are:

  • Installing a new, permanent sign
  • Changing the face of a sign
  • Enlarging a sign
  • Moving or changing the location of a sign
  • Replacing an existing sign

Sign permits follow the building permit process, but they have their own application form.

Read the sign ordinance to learn about all the rules and regulations.

Temporary signs

Temporary signs are usually used for:

  • Advertising a sale or event
  • Real estate sales
  • Political campaigns
  • Garage sales
  • Promoting a company doing construction work on a property

You do not need a sign permit for temporary signs, but you need to follow our temporary sign guidelines.
