The setbacks for a property depend on the zoning and improvement you are wanting to make. You can view a table of the City’s setbacks, height, and area requirements. If you have questions about your setbacks or zoning, you can contact the Planning and Zoning division.

How do I get a liquor license?

Effingham offers several types of liquor licenses, including for outdoor patios, events, and delivery. Before you apply for a license, you’ll need to interview with the Local Liquor Control Commission. Learn about liquor licenses and how to apply.

How do I find out the zoning of a property?

The City’s interactive zoning map is online. You can also view the full zoning ordinance in our online municipal code. If you have questions about your zoning, you can contact the Planning and Zoning division. If you are a business looking for available properties contact our Economic Development department.

How can I get a copy of the municipal codes?

Effingham’s local municipal code is available online.  Recently passed codes may not be in the online system yet. You can find them either in recent City Council meeting archives or by contacting the City Clerk.
